*Every blog post will be about articulating the main points of a research article or chapter to be useful for students and teachers. It will start with a quote, and then summarize an article in one to two paragraphs, ending with the citation. I hope these well-researched tips are useful to you!

"When we educators fail to appreciate the importance of students' emotions, we fail to appreciate a critical force in students' learning. One could argue, in fact, that we fail to appreciate the very reason that students learn at all."

Emotions influence decision making, and the relationship between learning and cognition. Emotional thought relates to education because morality, creativity, and culture are areas of emotional thinking. Creativity was a quality that evolved naturally in humans for surviving and thriving in complex sociocultural contexts. Aspects of cognition are needed for education, including learning, attention, memory, decision making, motivation, and social functioning. These processes are affected by emotion and also embedded in emotional processes. In sum, "Ethical decision making weaves together emotion, high reasoning, creativity, and social functioning, all in a cultural context."
